Hello ! Readers,
Again welcome in my blog. Let's enter into a new gate. I hope you will enjoy a lot this new journey. This is the world of technology and digitalization. Let's start this journey with one beautiful qaute,
" Books may look like nothing
more than words on a page, but
they are actually an infinitely complex
Imaginotransference technology
that translates odd, inky squiggles into
Pictures inside your head. "
- Jasper Fforde
Today I would like to put here my view on our knowledgeable workshop on, " Quality and Authenticity of web Resources " in Department of English, Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhaji Bhavnagar university. This session was organizing by the head of the department of English Dilip Barad sir. In this session he discussed about how we can check the quality of any web Resources. In the 21st century or we can say " the age of science and technology " there are a lots of use of technology in our day today life. We are using many websites for general information but the question is
" Ever we think that which websites are good or bad for us ? "
So, in this session Barad sir taught us that how we can check the quality of any web Resources. For that two key points are there :
1. Qualitative Assumptions
2. Quantitative analysis
Through this two key points we can divide any website. Then Barad sir taught us how to check quality of any websites. " SEER " is the Rubric. Through this Rubric we can evaluate any website.
☆ The Rubric is built on five criteria :-
1. Authority :-
Is the site well regarded, cited and written by expert in the field?
2. Educational :-
Does the site content help advance educational goal ?
3. Intent :-
Is the site well - respected source of content intended to inform users?
4. Originality :-
Is the site a source of original content and viewpoints?
5. Quality :-
Is the site highly vetted with good coverage of the topical area ?
Here is the chart of points that we can give any site on the basis of " SEER " Rubric :-
¤ 3.0 - 4.0 :-
Highly credible, quality sources.
¤ 2.0 - 3.0 :-
Credible sources
¤ 1.0 - 2.0 :-
Questionable sources
¤ 0.0 - 1.0 :-
Unacceptable or inappropriate sources
Here is my practical evaluation of the site basis on this Rubric.
Www. Shmoop.com
♧ Authoritative :- 1
♧ Educational value :- 2
♧ Intent :- 0
♧ Originality :- 2
♧ Quality :- 1
Click here to visit the site. The site is less qualitative because there is lack of full information about any perticular topic. In intent there is premium for any perticular course. In Originality we can say that there is not surety about any topic. It is not much helpful for education.
And also Barad sir discussed about " Plagiarism " how we can check Plagiarism through " Turnitin."
Thanks to Dhavalbhai and Media commitee for this press release. 🤗
