                            We all know that Indian culture and traditions are famous in the world. For example Indian past had very rigid about caste system and touchable or untouchability. So, the result is that some Indian authors tried to portray the picture in their works. One of the famous  Indian author Arundhati Roy portrays the picture of caste system in her novel. Now let us discuss her work and life in short.


Suzanna Arundhati Roy  is an Indian English Essayist, Novelist and Political activist who involved in human right and environmental causes. She is famous for her great novel, " The God of Small thing " ( 1997 ) which won the " Man Booker prize for fiction in 1997 and also she won the " Sydney Peace prize in 2004. She worked for movies and television and won the National film award for best Screenplay in 1988. After the success of her novel she has written a television serial The Banyan tree and the documentary DAM / AGE : A film with Arundhati Roy ( 2002 ) she has also written a numbers of essays on contemporary Politics and Cultures. In October 2016, Penguin India and Hamish Hamilton UK announced that they would publish her second novel, " The Ministry of Utmost Happiness  in June 2017. The novel was chosen for the Man Booker Prize 2017. In " The Times of India " in August 2008 Roy expressed her support for the Independence of Kashmir from India after the massive demonstrations in 2008 in favour of independence took some place some 5000,000 separatists rallied in Srinagar in Kashmir part of Jammu & Kashmir. In 2002 Roy responded  to a contempt notice issued against her by the Supreme court of India. She has also worked for,

                    ☆  The God of Small thing


This is the debute novel of Arundhati Roy. It is a story about the childhood experience of fraternal twins whose lives are destroyed by the " Loves laws " that lay down " Who should be loved and how and how much. "  The book explores how the small things affects people's behaviour and their lives. This book won the Booker prize in 1997. The main characters of this novel are :


The main themes of the novel are :-


It is a Non - Sequential narrative.  The setting of the story is in the village of Ayemenem in the Kottayam district of Kerala. The main part of plot takes place in 1969. It is the second novel by Arundhati Roy, published in 2017. It has been translated into 50 languages, including Hindi and Urdu. The main characters of the novel are  :-

            Arundhati Roy always involve in environmental and human rights causes. Her father was a  Bengali tea planter and her mother was Christian of Syrian descent who challenged India's inheritance laws by successfully suing for the right of Christian women to receive an equal share of their father's estate. She had a little interest in design. Her literary career was interrupted by controversy.
