Thinking Activity on ELT

 


Can technology replace the teacher  ?


There must be different view for this. According to my opinion obviously the answer is NO. WHY ? Technology can teach the students only curriculum activities and the information which is searching by students but one teacher can teach students not only curriculum in the classroom but how to behave, what to speak and what don't to speak, how to live happily. A teacher is an external parents. The primary duty of Teachers is to share knowledge and impart knowledge. Teacher's responsibility is to make their students independent not dependent because teachers might not be there constantly. So, they don't have stuck when they move ahead. As a teacher we have to be a flexible. Another role of teacher is to protect their students. So, one teacher has ability to change the world. 

Now here I would like to share my reflective writing on The role of English in India and different activities which we had done during study unit 1st. There are many essays in unit 1st which describes the role of English in India like,



♧ Activity 1st  :-

We had done one activity during study of one essay by R.S Sharma, " Teaching of EST in Indian Conditions. " In this essay he discussed Teaching EST ( English for Science and Technology ) in India suffers from certain drawbacks: Courses and methods are unrelated to the Specific needs of the students, teaching materials are not based on an analysis of the scientific sub register and the teachers are ill equipped. He gives certain solutions for how to overcome these drawbacks. According to him Engineering plays a role as Register and Mechanical engineering as a Sub-Register. 

 So, ma'am had given us a task to choose one profession as a Register and which type of instruments we need for this as a Sub - Register. I had faced many difficulties during this task because first as a student it was very difficult to choose one profession. After the constant flow of thoughts I had choose a profession of Doctor. Then it was more difficult to find out the instruments uses by Doctors. For that I have to did think a lot and search in google. Generally we are visiting hospitals and see the instruments uses by Doctors but the question is that we ever try to search the name of the instruments. Yes, I had faced many difficulties during this task but when I had done this activity I have enjoyed a lot. Specially thanks to Vaidehi ma'am for assigned this task. 
The Activity which I had done is given below, 



♧ Activity 2 :-


1. अहमद सुबह सुबह अखबार पढ़ता है।
2. આવ રે વરસાદ, ઢેબરિયો પરસાદ, ઊની ઊની રોટલીને કારેલાનું શાક.
3. માડી તારું કંકુ ખર્યુને સૂરજ ઊગ્યો.
4 माथे पे कुंकुम और हाथ मे चूड़ा, लगता है भारत से है वो।

《1》Ahamad reads newspaper early morning 

《2》 Comes rain ! Millet bread offerings, warm warm chapatti and bitter gourd vegetables. 

《3》 Mother your vermilion dropped and sun rose.

《4》 Vermilion on forehead bangles in hand, it seems they are from India. 

♧ Activity 3

In this activity which was assigned by Vaidehi ma'am in which we have supposed to do choose one word and we have to prepared one lesson plan that how I will introduce this word infront of my students. For that I have chosen the word, 



Here is my lesson plan for this word. How I will introduce this perticular word to my students. The age group of students is graduate level. 

" We are doing this everyday for our mental piece. It is kind of activity which we have been doing this in some festivals like Navaratri, Janmashtami or what we can say that it is the kind of honouring a person who has been identified as having a high degree of holiness."

♧ Activity 4

This activity is also a lesson planning. I have chosen the age of graduate level students. In this activity I have to teach one perticular topic and find out the objectives of this. The topic is " Articulations and Diphthongs. " 

Articulations and Diphthongs 

◇ Lesson plan  :-

First, I will make effective PowerPoint presentation including GIF, Charts and images.

Then I will give them or teach them some basic introduction of what is Articulations and Diphthongs. 

Then I will show them one video in which one person do practically. So, the students can see how pronounce the vowels, consonants and diphthongs. 

After finishing the video I will ask to my students to do practically. I will tell them to stand up and pronounce Diphthongs and Vowels sound. 

After the turn of all students, I will teach them in detail about Diphthongs with appropriate examples. So, I think after this may they will able to understand how to pronounce Diphthongs with the use of mouth and its different parts.

* Objectives *

1. To make them aware about how to pronounce the vowels, consonants and Diphthongs. 

2. To make all of them active participants. 

3. To make my topic or presentation effective. So, the learners understand easily rather than complicated. 

4. To habituate my students studying not only with traditional methods but studying with the use of different Gadgets. 


♧ The Future with the English language  :-


Mostly in our education system we have traditional methods to learn and teach various languages. There are the 50 % people who are not ready for accepting the online education system but during these last 7 or 8 months the Corona crises has changed the entire education system globally. Now, we have no other option for studying and teaching except online.

I am sure that it will change entire education system in future also. The English Department needs digitalization because learning through digital tools will be more easier. The reason is that with the use of technology we are able to access information fastly. Google, YouTube, Slideshare, Drive etc. Digital platforms provides easier way to collect and access the information. Interest makes the path more useful for students and teachers. In short, I would like to say that the entire education system will be changed and it will be online rather than traditional.
